Located in Cook County, about 10 miles northwest of the Loop, Lincolnwood is a diverse suburb spanning two and a half square miles. Originally settled by the Potawatomi, the area was vacated following the Indian Boundary Treaty of 1816. Rural development progressed slowly along the challenging plank roads that followed present-day Milwaukee and Lincoln Avenues.
